Most of us have learned to live above the neck.
We think our way through stress. We analyze our way through difficult moments. We push through pain and override what our bodies are trying to tell us. It works โ until it doesn't.
Nia offers a different path. Not more thinking, but more feeling. A body-centered approach that teaches you to sense, respond, and move with greater ease โ in your practice, your teaching, and your everyday life.
The Art of Sensation is where that journey begins.
Held at Move2Joy Studio ยท 106 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA ยท Led by Rosanne Russell, Nia Faculty
Living in a constant state of fight or flight, I always thought I had to think my way out of my physical and emotional pain. Nia taught me that the opposite was true โ that my body has its own way, and I need to listen to it. Feel my way in.
When Rosanne had us stand still and just listen, I could feel the violins in my legs and the trumpets in my chest. The more I could feel the music inside my body, the easier it became to move. That's the Nia magic.
โ Lauren, Art of Sensation Graduate

Before you ask โ here are some answers.
Do I need to be a dancer?
Not at all. Many participants come with no dance background whatsoever. Nia works with your body as it is โ not an idealized version of it. The Art of Sensation is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
I'm a yoga teacher. Will this complement what I already do?
Deeply. The somatic principles in Nia โ body awareness, sensation-led movement, presence โ speak directly to yoga philosophy, and many yoga teachers find that Nia gives them new language and tools for cues they were already trying to offer their students.
What if I can only attend one weekend?
The certification requires both weekends. If your schedule is uncertain, reach out to Rosanne before registering and she can help you think through the timing.
What does the training cost?
Investment and registration details are through the Nia Now platform. Click "Register Now" to see current pricing, or email Rosanne with any questions about what's included.
What should I wear? What do I need to bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move freely in. Bare feet or soft-soled shoes. A water bottle, a journal if you like to write, and an open mind. Everything else Rosanne will provide.
