Every Body is Different.
And, So Is Every Day.
Let's face it. Life wears us down, physically and mentally. For example, the lower back that felt great on Tuesday isn't happy on Friday. Or your neck and shoulders are tight (again), and you still have to work at the computer for more hours. Some days, you're tired but you dread a poor night's sleep. This is your reality: your body isn't the same today as it was yesterday, and it won't be tomorrow either.
And all these reasons, plus many more, are why we created Move2Joy Yoga Studio.
So come on the days you need to move, to stretch, to be strong, to feel better. And come on the days you need to take it easier, to restore and recover. Either way, you get to be exactly who you are today.
You don't have to be any different than what you are right now. But you do have to come.
We Teach to Who Is in the Room
With our extensive experience and knowledge, we are able to offer our students classes that are designed specifically to meet the needs of the variety of individuals who show up. There's no script, and no rigid format built on an unrealistic idea of what yoga should look like, or what you should look like doing it. We listen to what you need, and why you are here, and we teach to that.
Somatic means "of the body," and all of our classes are rooted in the science of anatomy and an awareness of the wisdom of our bodies. We also focus on the mind, nervous system regulation, injury prevention, and your overall well-being and happiness.
We Are Here For You.
Move2Joy opened on Albion Street in Wakefield in 2019 as a community-focused studio designed to be an inviting, healing, and welcoming space.
We break movement down so everyone can find their own comfort and success. The Move2Joy way is to always offer modifications, skill options, and teach you at your level, not someone else's.
We aren't a typical yoga studio, and we don't try to be. We're real and available, and, we hope, a place you will call your yoga studio.

Ken Flanders
Guest & Series Teacher
Movement has been central to Ken’s path of healing and personal expression for decades. From Tai Chi in the 1970s to ecstatic dancing at Grateful Dead shows, from the yoga mat to Kundalini festivals, from Nia to African healing dance, he has always been guided by rhythm, breath, and presence.
After retiring from a long career in engineering in 2019, Ken embraced a new chapter. During the quiet of the pandemic, he earned certifications in QiGong with Lee Holden and in Mindfulness Meditation. Now, he brings a calm, grounded presence to his teaching, and a deep belief in movement as medicine.
Ken is especially passionate about supporting mental well-being through mindful, accessible practices. His classes are an invitation to reconnect with your body, breathe deeply, and move with intention.

With a focus on proper form, mindful transitions, and subtle strength, Angela helps students build confidence, reduce strain, and discover ease in the familiar motions of daily life. Her classes offer a steady mix of clarity, relaxation, and moments to reflect—sometimes even with a lesson to pass on.
